Benefits of Grape Seed Extract

Grape seed extract (GSE) is a major ingredient in Melaleuca’s ProVex line of supplements. Knowing that GSE is recommended as an antioxidant from major universities and research houses will help you be secure in explaining its benefits to your customers.

Here is a white paper all about Grape Seed Extract from the University of Maryland. It explains how the seed helps in conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pancreatitis, and cancer. Grape Seed.

Here is our research report on the same topic. Take a half an hour or more to review the links in this report, and you will increase your understanding of why grape seed was chosen by Melaleuca as a key antioxidant. Grape Seed Extract.

These two links will help you understand what antioxidants can do for your health, but if you still need more help in understanding about the relationship between antioxidants and free radicals, order a copy of our 40 page booklet, “All About Grape Seed Extract,” by Dr. Dallas Coulatre. It explains in question-and-answer format everything you ever needed to know about this supplement ingredient.

Children’s Health Month

October is Children’s Health Month. I found out from Healthy Child Healthy World, which used to be called CHEC.They focus on helping parents understand how to reduce their children’s exposure to pesticides and other toxins.

If you are managing a Melaleuca business, you will benefit from the information on the above link to Healthy Child Healthy World, as well as the below link to the Environmental Protection Agency. I’m sure you can find information to integrate into a one-on-one or in-home presentation.

EPA’s Action Steps for October.

You will notice that action item for October 11 will be to protect children from chemicals in school. October 12: Reduce the use of pesticides at home. October 20: Prevent asthma attacks. October 21: Reduce indoor asthma triggers.

We already have a research report on the subject of protecting children from chemicals in school, here: Children & Chemical Exposure Outside the Home Research Report.

May October be a blockbuster month for you!

International Wellness Guide Orders

Those in Australia or New Zealand may have already noticed we have changed the order forms for these countries. We are now sending all international orders from our office in the United States. In order to get the best value for your shipment, we have pre-measured how many of our publications fit in the postal boxes available. That is why international order forms will only allow a set number of publications in a shipment.

For instance, five sets of pamphlet 50-packs fit in a large Priority Mail envelope, therefore, five 50-packs is the minimum order for pamphlets for international orders. You may still choose from our four english language titles.

Very soon we will have order forms available for other countries! Until then, please write us if you live outside the USA and Canada and you would like some of our Melaleuca Wellness Guides, or Melaleuca Quick References, or any publication!

Household chemical investigation

I thought you might be interested in a news article entitled, “Common Chemicals may Have Autism Link.” The ABC News article explains how a study out of California might have uncovered at least one household chemical worthy of investigation: pyrenthrin, a type of pesticide found in common products from pet shampoos to household bug sprays and lice treatments for children.

What’s most concerning to me is that this is a chemical which has been around fro twenty years and was deemed safe. Many of us have this or similar chemicals in our cupboards or on our garage shelves without a thought to the potential harm they may cause to our health. The ABC article raises the question, “Why have questionable products in your home when there are healthy alternatives available?” It all comes down to educating the public on the toxic nature of common household chemicals and showing them there is a better way.

This summer, if you feel tempted to use chemical bug repellents on your children, stop and think about the potential harm you may be doing to their long-term health, Maybe you already have a safer solution to your bug problem in your Melaleuca cupboard, Check our “Melaleuca Wellness Guide” for insect control solutions using Melaleuca products.

We also have three research reports on household chemicals and a report on lice treatments which covers pyrenthrin and other toxic treatments.

Children and toxins

A report on children and exposure to toxins, sponsored by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), aired on NPR (National Public Radio) in April, 2004. Dr. Michael Weitzman was interviewed, and if you would like to listen to it, just go to the link above and choose a media player under “listen now” to hear the audio track. A short summary follows:

There is a growing awareness within the public regarding the fact that levels of exposures to chemicals which previously were thought to be safe are actually posing a danger to our children. Unfortunately, we know less about the effects of childhood exposure to chemicals than we do about adult exposures. We know more about a child’s reaction to drugs than we do about a child’s reaction to chemicals. For instance, scientists are currently asking, ‘how do low level exposures to chemicals relate to chronic diseases in children?’ There are subtle but serious effects; but the scientific studies are few and far between because to complete a study like this, we have to follow a child for a long time and we’ve also got to be cautious about how to study children. Studies are usually limited to taking blood and urine samples from the children. In short, very little is currently known about childrens’ exposures to toxins.

This is a great source to cite as you begin talking about toxins in household cleaners. Help all the families you know to give up ‘normal’ toxic grocery store cleaners! Melaleuca’s EcoSense line of cleaners are so easy to talk about once one understands that there is a long-term and subtle negative effect on the health of our children when we don’t consciously choose what to bring into our houses.
